Privacy Policy

The short version

BuildMaterialPlanner.com's calculators don't require an account, a login, or any personal information to use. We don't sell your data. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and tools are useful, and some pages contain links to other businesses (suppliers, contractors, retailers) that may pay us a referral fee if you make a purchase or request a quote through them — at no extra cost to you. Details below.

Information we collect

Calculator inputs. The measurements and options you enter into a calculator (e.g. length, width, material type) are processed to show you a result. They are sent as part of the page request and are not stored in a database tied to you.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4), which uses cookies and similar technology to collect standard usage data — pages visited, approximate location (city/region level, from IP address), device and browser type, and how you interact with the page (for example, which button you click). This helps us understand which calculators are useful and where to improve. Google's own privacy policy governs how they process this data: policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not require or collect: names, email addresses, passwords, or payment information, unless you choose to email us directly.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish returning visitors from new ones and to measure site usage. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the calculators will still work without them, though usage data won't be collected for that visit.

Affiliate links and referrals

Some pages may include links to third-party suppliers, retailers, or contractor-matching services. If you click one of these links and make a purchase or request a quote, we may earn a commission or referral fee — at no additional cost to you. We only link to products or services we think are genuinely relevant to the calculator you're using. Any such link is to a third-party site with its own privacy policy and terms, which we don't control.

Embeddable widgets

If you encounter one of our calculators embedded on another website (via our free widget/embed program), the calculator itself still runs from our servers, so the same analytics collection described above applies on that embedded page too.

Data sharing and sale

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share analytics data with anyone other than our analytics provider (Google) for the purpose described above.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes — for example, if we add a new analytics tool or a new type of referral link. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change.
